In late 2010, Willow Smith, daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smitt, released her debut single "Whip My Hair." The song was an immediate internet hit and she subsequently signed to Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records. Although only 10 years old, the track is an anthem for women to stand strong and to obtain their goals.
The pre-teen sings "When I'm down and I feel like giving up, I think again again whip my hair (back and forth)." The song has since gone Top 10 on the R&B charts and during my first homecoming as a Howard alum, all of the sororities performed some rendition or another of the track. Guess you're never too young to start making your dreams a reality, eh?
