Solange - T.O.N.Y.

I feel bad for forgetting this gem of a song. Solange recorded "TONY" for a her second album. The title is actually an acronym for "the other night, why?" Within the laid back cut, Solange sings that "tony won't call no more" or that "tony doesn't come around anymore." It's actually quite a catchy little tune.

"TONY" takes us to a scenario after Solange has apparently had a one night stand with "Tony." Morever, she states that "she could have been in love my now, if it wasn't for Tony" alluding to the idea that she may have previously been involved with someone else. I like to assume, as according to the video, that the "Y" in "TONY" is actually another metaphor for the Y-chromosome relating the fact that, in real life, Solange is a single mother to a young son. With somewriters, music is almost always shaped by one's own experiences. Think about it.
